| Kef Q3, Q1, / Paradigm Studio/20, Esprit ???? | SilentServices Apr 11, 2003 5:52 AM | | Hi,
Im currently using a Rotel RA-1060 / RCD-1070 i am very pleased with the result i get from the speakers i made myself... but i imagine that those component (rotel) can do better.
So i am looking for a small monitor or floorstander that will fill my little room with great sounding music. What i am seeking is in this order of importance.
1- Imaging must be really really good
2- High must be clean detailed but never harsh
3- Mids must be rich but not colored, i aim for a natural sound... life like if possible...
4- Bass must be tight and consistent ( around 45 hz )
5- Must not cost more then 800$ US
6- Must be sensible enough too match the very efficient 60W that my Rotel is giving...
So with this in mind i was considering those models...
Kef Q3 or Q1 (really my number one choice even if i never listen them)
Paradigm Studio20 or Esprit
the brand that i dont even wanna ear are the followings: Bose, Klipsh, Energy, JBL, or any wanna be HiFi type of company.
So you can start help me with with this problem! have you ever listen to these product?
Thank You very much... |
| You have a serious issue with your perception... | midfiman Apr 11, 2003 6:49 AM | | To think Klipsch, JBL, and Energy are "wanna-be" hifi companies is about as ignorant as possible. The Klipsch RF, Energy Veritas, Energy connoisseur and JBL THX series are all in the same level (if not above) the speakers you have mentioned in your previous post. Not to mention there's a reason why many theaters around the country use Klipsch and JBL in their systems.
That being said, there are a few speakers i'd look at that fit what you want:
Paradigm Studio 20s
Klipsch Reference RB5s
B&W CDM1NT
Infinity Kappa 200
Dynaudio 42 and 52
Norh 5.1
NHT SB-3
You have to listen to them individually and make your own determination. Doesn't matter what someone tells you about a speaker. All that matters is that you're satisfied with what you hear. Try to make it a blind test if possible. I.E. If a dealer has more than one of the above speakers, audition both but don't let the dealer tell you which one you're listening to. |
| Wanna-be Hifi Brand.... | SilentServices Apr 11, 2003 7:21 AM | | I dont say that those brand cant come out with something good, I just say that they should not be consider like really good products for their price. They are the kind of company that put money in marketing first...
Sure they have great Flagship models that can compete in the Hifi world, but still they are too pricey for what you get. And they dont care if they release a krappy line of product... for me... thats not a HiFi ideology.
Anyway i think we can agree on one thing here... Audio is before everything a question of taste. I will go audition some of your suggestion... thank you ;) |
| Wanna-be Hifi Brand.... | midfiman Apr 11, 2003 7:31 AM | | For the price, Klipsch and JBL makes excellent products. Sure, your idea does apply to Bose which markets every single place possible, but JBL and Klipsch have the products to back it up. Even at $100/pr, JBL and Klipsch make speakers that are worth what you pay. |
| Wanna-be Hifi Brand.... | SilentServices Apr 11, 2003 7:46 AM | | Wow... maybe your right but... it was not this way 2 or 3 years ago for JBL... still im not convince... do you have any url of a GOOD 100$ JBL or Klipsh speaker that cannot be beat by something else? Then i will try to find speaker that i THINK are more near of an Hifi sound... in the same price range... |

It's just a matter of opinion. |
| Wanna-be Hifi Brand.... | SilentServices Apr 11, 2003 8:37 AM | | I agree... its really a matter of taste... have you ever listen to AR Speakers? i think they have been forgoten... but they really deliver great performance for there price... Coloration is minimal and The Bass and global tonality is great for under 100$

The 40's will give you great imaging and the tight bass you're looking for. |
