| Where can I buy a Creek intergrated amp? | audionovice Apr 13, 2003 1:32 PM | | Hey out there. I am from Canada (Saskatchewan to be specific), and I am wondering if anyone can inform me as to how I can purchase the Creek 4330 Intergrated Stereo Amp? I also can't seem to find Creek Audio's website. I am OK with internet sites, as long as they are well known or reputable. I also can't seem to find Creek Audio's website. Any recomendations are appreciated... Thanks.
Just for interests sake, what kind of speaker would you pair this with (about 500 US price point) |

Just curious but you have HEARD this amp you intend to buy right. Creek makes nice stuff...but lots of nice stuff I would not necessarily want. Matching speakers with the Creek is not too bad. I like B&W with most British Amps and Creek makes a nice match, as does Rotel, Arcam, and Sugden.
You could also look at the new Rega speaker line, Wharfedale, Quad and Mission. |
| Go with Quad 11L monitor....or EPOS | cone Apr 13, 2003 9:01 PM | | they might be a tad more in Canada...but easily compete with monitors twice their price and more...including SPendors, B&Ws, etc...unlike alot of small speakers...these dont sound small...they have a HUGE soundstage, 3-imaging, great bass, amazing speed and dynamics, and in the great Quad tradition...simply vanish with all music...they simply dont have a weakness....the only downside...they are very revealing of source and electronics...but would work well with CREEK....Epos is another speaker that is owned by Creek and have the same distribution channels....they would be an obvious choice...the only downside with Creek...they sound a bit hard and "closed in" when pushed... |

I dunno...usually the Brit rags are said to be British brand homers...this however does not lead me to think they are better than B&W. Maybe someone here would carry the line if they were. http://www.hifichoice.co.uk/review_read.asp?ID=2644
The M12 would cost in Canada almost what the CDM 1NT does. I have my serious doubts. |
| Dont knock EPOS until you've heard em.... | cone Apr 15, 2003 11:27 AM | | they are a very established Brit company with plenty of heritage...and have been proponets of simple first order crossovers before everybody and their uncle have been doing it...and unlike B&W...they only introduce a couple speakers every few years with immaculate attention to detail and build ...the m12 is a great monitor...as was the older e12...if you find these used...snap em up! |

The Mission 780 match well with the 4330 for your budget. The EPOS is excellent but over your budget.
Send me an e-mail at paullam@sk.sympatico.ca and we can set up something.

| Paul... | Paul L Apr 16, 2003 4:44 PM | | Actually, no. I only heard them in different occasions. The M12 suppose to improve upon the es12 but with lower cost. It is because the es's cabinet was made by the same factory who makes SF's cabinet in Italy. The M's cabinet is made in far east. The es has banana terminal only for bi-wiring. I think that is what Ron Marshall's original finding that that is the best sounding connection. However, market response force Mike Creek to use the more traditional 5-way binding post.
Another note is that Ron Marshall joined Mission several years ago and designed the Mission 750LE. The 780 is sucessor of the 750LE and is very competent speakers.
I also sold the Quad 10Ls when Mission owned Quad but not the new 11L. I regret not to stock up a couple of pairs of the ELS63s when Mission has a clearance sale of Quad.
They are all very good small speakers at different price point. I don't mean the ESL63 hehehe.
Other small speaker need to mention is the Spendor S3/5. I think it is better than the BBC LS3/5a that it intend to replace.
