JBL Northridge vs Studio Series helpgarrityplus
Apr 13, 2003 6:32 PM
I went and bought the JBL S26s as I wanted something more compact than my JBL N38s. I bought the S26s unheard, hehe and I am hoping they will perform better. What differences are there between the Northridge and the Studio series, should I notice any difference between the two?

Any help would be great!

Thanks

I actually own both the N38 and S26. I got the N38 first then added the 26's as my surrounds. As soon as I heard the studios I knew i should have saved my money and gotten all studio's instead of mixing in the 38's.
They are much more clean sounding...less muddy sounding. That said I will hopefully be upgrading my 38's soon. Thinking of B&W 805's or some Dynuadio MKII1.3.

wow! that makes me feel much better and that my purchase was good. I will let you know what I think when i do a side by side comparison on either wenesday or thursday.

How's the bass on those S26s? compared to the n38s. thats my only concern right now.

Well...obviously the bass is not gonna be as much, but what u do hear(or i hear) is much more clean/precise bass. As i mentioned earlier, the N38 in my opinion sounds messy. But in that price range what do u expect? Just add a quality sub to those S26's (SVS,Infinity,HGS,HSU,paradigm, etc) and u will have no regrets.

I got the Onkyo A-8048Vgarrityplus

I got the Onkyo A-8048V which does 80 watts per channel i believe at 8 ohms. It's at least 10 years old, but sounds better than the Harman Kardon HK3370 amp I have with these JBL N38 speakers I got now.

I was wondering if anyone else on this board uses the Studio series or has the S26IIs specifically?

Thanks for your help lothar

I just bought the S310II for front and the S26II for rears. I recieved the S26's first so I hooked them up and they sounded very nice. I added the Velodyne CHT 10 sub and that seemed to complement nicely. I thought to myself..."What the hell am I going to do with the 310's when they arrive??? These 26's sound pretty damn good. Well the 310's came in and I moved the 26's to the rear and the system sounds sweet. I am using a Denon 2803 @ 90 watts per. You'll be fine with the 26's.
