It seems to me howeever, that if you are going to get the "best" Def Tech tower relative to price, you should consider the 2002Tls. They are a bit more than the 2004s, but they have the dual midrange array and they are bi-wireable. They also have 12" subs with 250 Watt amps that give you plenty of punch. Read up on the reviews on this site, many of them are helpful. Oh yeah, and not too long ago there was talk on this forum about new Def Techs coming out that I'm sure will be awesome. You might want to wait and check out those before buying what is available right at the moment. I hope some of this helped:) |

You really need to hear them, because of the dipole arrangement. The first week I had them I had to continously check my settings to see if the centre was on. The soundstage is that good. I heard that Def Tech will be releasing a new speaker called the 7000 (?) but this puppy will be very costly.
Again some people like them sone dont, its up to your ears. |

I am however getting a pair of the new 7001SC towers. They are $1,750.00 each but they have 3, 10" subs. One being powered by a 1,500 watt amp, and the other 2 are pressure driven. They are rated down to 11 Hz :)
I will move my BP30's to back surrounds to finish my 7.1 system :)
ALL deftech towers are good. You just have to decide if you want towers with ot without subs built in. Get those outlets ready. I didnt want the hassle of always changing the sub volume, but I have since changed my mind,. THe NEW 7000SC and 7001SC's rock. By the way, the bigger one, the 7000SC, has 3, 14" subs driven by a 1,800 watt amp, rated down to 9 Hz. Those run $2,500.00 each :( Thats a LOT of $$$
I will forever buy DefTechs. They are LOT better for music then most think(with the right gear) and they cant be beat for movies. Drive the speakers with a powerful amp, I'm talking in upwards of 300 watts per channel at minimum, and be prepared to be floored. They also sound good with a moderate receiver. But they crave power! |
