But headphones offer a different kind of high end listening experience...indeed, it's the cheapest way IMO to get a truly high end audio system. No room acoustics nasties...just you and the music.
Headphones don't offer the sense of realism per se but they offer a unique intimacy with the music that very few speakers can match.
C'mon moderator let's give it a try...we have vinyl and tubes...I would bet more people own headphones than tubes or turntables these days.
