| DIY speaker building | mAJORD Apr 18, 2003 6:07 AM | | Hi peeps,
im constructing a set of 2 ways, and the only thing holding me back is deciding on dimensions, i have a volume im aiming for but i have some confusion over the importance of the "golden ratio" of dimensions. according to what info i can find, and simple speakers ive made in the past its been Width 1 height 1.6 depth 0.6 (approx) question is, why do very few speakers on the market actually use that rule? and most are quite a bit deeper than they are wide.. especially floor standing models?
if it wasnt for the info in books ive found one would think the ultimate enclosure would certainly be deeper than it is wide judging by all the comercial units out there!
any help would be appreciated as i am not certain what to do... after i prefer the deeper look. but dont want to sacrifice sound quality.
