| Amplifier and DirectTV Dolby Digital | suprabilis Feb 24, 2001 1:39 PM | | Just bought this DirecTV Satellite receiver that is Dolby Digital Capable. It has an Optical out jack at the back. Now, my Yahama RX-V2092 has a Dolby Digital TV/DBS coax jack. I bought a converter from midiman.net, which is CO2 that takes in Optical jack in and has a coax out. I connected it and it seems it is not working. I disconnected my RCA audio cable coming out of the satellite receiver and I lost sound totally with only the optical out from the satellite receiver connected. I even tried to tune into a channel that broadcast DOlby Digital(STARZ) and my amplifier still says Dolby Pro Logic. I am expecting it to say DOlby Digital Any help? Thanks |

I bought one and returned it, they said they were having trouble with alot of them. Said they couldn't fix it at this time. I bought the DirecTV TIVO system which has DD out. I'am VERY pleased with the TIVO great recording capabilites and how it skips over the commericals rapidily. The only way to watch commerical TV. |

I have a Sony and it does pass a signal via the digital cable even if it is not DD. Does the receiver have an option that you have to use to enable the digital out?
Also on Starz, they only brodacast a few movies in DD 5.1 so it is truly possible that the signal was only 2.0 which your receiver correctly identified as pro logic.
