Classe equipment (SSP-75 and CAV-500)Dbergan

I'm thinking of getting two pairs of Magnaplane speakers (LR-1) for my stereo system and AV setup. I have been told that planer speakers require a great deal of power to really sing. The Classe equipment was recommended by the dealer but I'd like to get any feedback on the SSP-75 Preamp and the CAV-500 5 channel amplifier. The 250W/channel would seem to do the job...but this is a VERY expensive setup and I'd like to get some feedback from those who have "been there done that".

Thanks in advance.

I haven't listened to either of these two models but I am familiar with the SSP-25, CA-200 and CAV-75. I decided not to buy the SSP-25 although it was a nice unit I liked the way the Proceed PAV handled 2-channel sound better. I am using a Classe CA-200 to drive my main speakers in stereo (90% of my listening is music). When I play a movie I used the CAV-75 in bridged mode (3 X 150 WPC). I really love the Classe amps rich full sound. I do believe though that the CA series is better made and sounds better than the CAV series. The CAV is great for surrounds but I don't think I'd drive my mains with it. Maybe you could listen to a CA-201 or a CA-301 and bridge a CAV-150 for surround ( 300 wpc bridged). Good Luck.
