Sampling frequency; Determined by the Amp or decodersRob Curran

I have a Yamaha DSP-A1 intergrated amp and its max sampling freqs are 44.1 kHz, 16 bit (CD) and 48 kHz (DVD). The DSP-A1 offers inputs for an external decorder to be so-called "future proof". Today's new formats (HDCD, SACD, DVD-A) all require higher sampling freqs. So here's my questions: "Is the sampling freq determined by the amp, or by the decoders?"

Your integrated amp probably has 3 functions. 1)Preamp 2)Processor (decoder) and 3)Amplifier. The only part that would change with new digital is the Processor (decoder) section. The amplifier section only amplifies whatever signal it is presented. I hope this helps. By the way 'future proof' is just a sales term. In my 25 years enjoying audio nothing is future proof, especially in digital.
