ground noise with denon dap 5500 and poa 6600 - normal???trumpethead

Hi,
I just bought a Denon DAP 5500 and a pair of POA 6600. If I listen closely at the speakers, particularly at the tweaters, I hear a constant ground noise, even if I press the "mute" button on the preamp - then you can hear it only with the ears attached to the speakers; but when you press any signal input button on the preamp, the noise gets louder - and - if you turn the volume on the preamp up (without any signal) - the ground noise really gets loud if not annoying! Is this normal - according to the power of the amps? If I have any signal attached to the preamp I can recognize that the amp system reveals any details regardless what I listen to - tape, old CD's, new CD's! Is the ground noise the downside of the really huge power of the POA's? I would be happy if someone has some input on this!!
TIA Trumpethead, i.e. an audiophile from Germany (hobson@gmx.net)
