Mar 9, 2001 7:18 PM | | Well, its been some time since we added the new forums to our site. I have delayed the shutting the old boards down because of various performance issues related to the new forums. We are now at a point were most of the issues have been addressed. Ill outline a few below:
1) Performance: For about a week the new forum was extremely slow. This was related to a server problem on the new forum sever. We have fixed this, and the performance will only increase as we implement future performance enhancements to that server.
2) Tracking of visited links: We have been able to address this also. If you are a registered user, and are logged in, the new forum will track all your visited links for you. This is another reason why you want to be a registered user. Since this system relies on Dynamic Web Pages, it cant track the links of users who are not logged in.
3) Profanity filter: Apparently, our profanity filter was too strict, so we are weeding out words in an effort to limit the feature from prohibiting legitimate posts from being entered.
As it stands now, if all goes well, we will shut down the posting capabilities to the old forums some time next week.
Please start using the new forums from this point forward for posting new messages. The old forums will always be available for the vast amount of information that is contained within them.
