| Please HELP with Sony STR-DB940 receiver... | NickK Jul 14, 2001 6:29 AM | | A few days ago, i noticed that when i turn the reciever's function button to DVD, i get the word UNLOCK on the receiver's display. Everything plays normal and the UNLOCK disappears after several seconds but i am starting to worry. Does anybody else have noticed anything familiar?
Thanks for your time. |

This happens on my receiver when my DVD player is turned off. I am not using the 'auto' mode for my DVD player since I never use the analog 5.1 inputs. I've configured my receiver to only use the digital input. My question for you are this:
- are you using the optical digital input from your DVD player?
If not, try to configure your receiver to never look at the digital input. This is done by switching input of DVD to analog and not "auto". If so, make sure you have a good link on the optical and you switch the input of DVD to optical exclusively. I think one of the weak points in Sony's receivers is that they have difficulty picking the source when in 'auto' mode. Give this a try and let me know what results you get.
disclaimer, my receiver is STR-V333ES. Same functionality should apply, but I cannot tell you where the button to switch inputs is since we have different layouts. I hope I'm not assuming incorrectly that you haven't already done this stuff, it's just that the manuals on these things are so bad you never really know how much people have figured out on their own.
Cheers.

As for the manuals, i haven't seen the manual for your amp, but if i judge from mine, the best thing to do would be to set all of Sony's manuals on fire and try and help each other out...
Thanks for your help Sean. |
