Is lack of 'autoformer' on McIntosh MC162 amp bad?Rush Power Windows

I noticed that many of McIntosh's amplifiers have 'autoformer' technology, but my 162 apparently does not. What does an autoformer do, and why does the 162 not have it? Should I be concerned?

This particular design apparantly doesn't require one. I am not personally familliar with this model which is in their current line-up but they have evidently changed their basic design philosophy in at least this respect on at least this model. It can be viewed on http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/ . In general, MacIntosh amplifiers have a reputation for outstanding quality of construction, excellent performance and reliability. They also tend to strangely appreciate in price as they become collectors items, or at least they don't depreciate like other manufacturer's equipment does. Check e-bay for proof.
