Hello,
Does anyone know if you can run 2 pair of speakers at the same time with the mcintosh mc 2105 amp ?
I understand that it has 100w per channel. Is this enough power to run 2 pair of KLH model 5 speakers which are fairly inefficient.
Thanks
Lorin

Yes I think you can. wire them in parallel and use the 4 ohm tap on the amplifier. I believe the 2105 has autotransformers with tap settings. The KLH 5 was an 8 ohm speaker (12" 3 way, 4 drivers-two midranges.) The 2105 will provide plenty of power. This should make for an excellent sound system.

Not a problem. Put them in parrellel and wire them to the 4 ohm tap. The 2105 rated at 105 watts per channel typically put out closer to 150 at specification. This amp will handle about anything that can be thrown at it and come out on top. I've an acquaintance running 2 sets of Klipsch Heresy II (4 ohms) in parrellel; hence 2 ohms and it doesn't get warmer than mine with any of my 16, 8 or 4 ohm speakers sets hooked to it.

I think your idea will work great. If you haven't already you can make some short jumpers with spades to fit the blocks on the amp.(at least 12 guage) I did this on a similar amp and hooked up three sets of cables to each post using banana plugs. Mac didn't give you much room in the old days.
