Go for it! A while back I had a chance to audition the Acurus in my home. Against my then Carver ct-17 preamp tuner and Nad 1600 Preamp tuner and another borrowed pre amp costing much more than the Acurus. There really is a difference in solid state gear. The room seemed to grow wider and deeper and I could hear more of the music in the music so to speak. Build quaility is great. I did not end up buying it then as I wanted to get a new home theater based pre amp. I now have the Acurus Act-3. I still however would like to have an RL-11. At list price the RL-11 is a great pre-amp for $400 I feel you can't go wrong. Best of wishes which ever way you decide to go.
