| NAD 7020 Questions | echo Dec 31, 2001 3:10 PM | | I bought a NAD 7020 reciever today for $25 Canadian (it was my fathers back in the 80's but he sold it to my uncle and I bought it back today at work), and I was checking out the back and it had a Preamp thing there. Ok first, no laughing at me please, but what exacty does a preamp do. I always thought it just added more power to the system like putting out more Watts but my dad thought is cleaned up the sound making it clearer when it went through the amp. Basically we are just guessing what it does. Secondly I have recently bought a Kenwood 506 Reciever for a sound system Im building so would there be a way I could benifit from using the preamp on the NAD with the Kenwood or would it not be worth while. If not I plan on hooking up the old Mission speakers we have that we had hooked up to the NAD before dad sold it. I might have to replace the actual speakers in them though since when I was like 5 years old I poked pin holes into them =) Thanks for any answers in advanced. |
