| Suggestions?Replace Marantz 5200 with separates for $1000? | ericttz Jan 1, 2002 2:08 PM | | First, thanks in advance for any suggestions. I recently purchased a marantz sr5200 to replace an older Carver hr772. This system will be 50/50 music and ht. The marantz produces too much noise for me and doesnt power the 6 0hm 86db planars that I have. i have been considering replacing the marantz with a hk 2.0 processor and some form of 5 channel amp. Whether an outlaw or marantz mm9000, parasound, ati. The last gen processors are getting pretty cheap. On the other hand i could keep the receiver and just get a 2 channel amp to power the front speakers, the rears are more sensitive. Any thoughts. Am i moving up in sound quality enough by shifting to the hk 2.0 or similar processor? Or should I just get more power for my speakers. Thanks again. E |

That's what I did. I have a Luxman pre/power amp and am not willing to give up the sweat sound of the luxman. The Sr5200 should be good enough to power your rears/centre/subs.
