|   Hum on the NAD T760 | Johannes

My A/V reciever NAD T760 has a silent Hum in all 5 speakers all the time. Even in stereo mode and when muted the hum is there, and it's very fustrating...
Anyone knows how to deal with this?

Jan 2, 2002 7:21 PM | | First unplug everything from your t760 and unplug all components from the wall and power strip (plug the t760 directly in the wall)...except the speakers. If you still have hum, disconnect the speaker wire from the t760 one at a time until the hum is gone or you ran out of speakers. If the hum goes away with a certain speaker unpluged, check that speaker and wire.
Turn it on and see if you have the hum. If the hum is gone plug the t760 back into the power strip, see if it makes a hum, if it does your power strip could be bad. If no hum still, plug your components in one at a time into the power strip and t760. If it starts to hum with a componet, check the wires or the componet either could be bad. If you still have the hum, Check your electrical outlet to see if it's wired correctly. If your t760 uses a ground pin make sure the outlet is grounded properly.
Basically check each thing by itself...narrow down your problem. Could be bad wire (check all connections), bad componet, or even a bad t760.

Jan 2, 2002 9:56 PM | | Your Reciever may be generating this hum/ hiss on its own, try using 2ch mode without any sound processing. eg. No tone. See if the hiss or hum is present, if the hum dissapears when you do not use any sound processing you may have a problem with your Processor, and should either return the product if still possible or bring it in for repairs. But check everything eles first, try to clean all your connections and make sure your reciever is grounded, a reciiever that is not grounded can cause servere hum or buzzing...
