| Denon 3801 Speaker internal calibration tones, NEED HELP | Jorge Jul 11, 2001 9:34 AM | | When I use the internal test tones to calibrate my speakers I end up with a system calibrated about 10db lower than when I run test tones from Video Essentials DVD. Even more annoying is that if I try to calibrate the speakers using Video Essentials, the moment I get into the Denon's calibration screen the internal test tones begin and cut off all other audio. So I am sort of forced to use the internal tones. Am I missing something? On my old receiver you could adjust either with or without the internal test tones.
Also, which test tones are right the internal or external ones?? I thought they are supposed to be 75db. I set receiver to 00db in order to calibrate speakers. I also am running an external 5 channel THX amplifier to run speakers not the Denon's internal amps. Could this be causeing the discrepancies? I have the amp Carver 705x adjusted to THX reference levels (it has individual channel level adjustment and a THX reference point).
