| Budget integrated amplifier | arlan Jan 1, 2002 2:31 PM | | I am looking into getting an integrated amplifier. I have been looking at the NAD c-350. Does anyone have any suggestions for other integrated amps that compare with the C-350 as far as price/quality? thanks for your help. |
| re: Budget integrated amplifier | PJ Jan 1, 2002 5:58 PM | | Buy second hand. Amp technology hasn't really changed in a long time, and they last forever. |

| re: Budget integrated amplifier | DENNIS DIBBEN Jan 2, 2002 4:09 AM | | I agree with PJ - there are so many good used amps out there. I pick-
ed up a Pioneer (with tuner!) for ten bucks, and it just needs a little Deoxit in the pots and switches. What I am actually using is
an MCS amp & tuner ($20) which have replaced $3K worth of high-end
amplification. Yes, it sounds better! Budget does not have to mean
bad sound. |
| re: Budget integrated amplifier | RGA Jan 2, 2002 5:41 PM | | I would look here. http://www.jolida.com/catalogue/jd102b.html
Also try Antique Sound Labs (ASL)http://www.divertech.com/antiquesl.html
The MG15dt is a great little amp.
Either of these I'd take easily over any SS amp under 1k. The Jolida 202a and likely the AQ1003DT from ASL I would take over any SS amp up to 2k. |
| ***Check Vintage Sansui Amps on Ebay*** | BeatleFred Jan 3, 2002 6:16 PM | | A Great deal was Item #1314024926 in Completed Auctions- only 75 Bucks- a steal! (If I already didnt have the same model I couldve gone for it myself). Keep an eye out for other great amps- Check out Item # 1316093358 currently available - Now THATS a Fine integrated amp!!- Fine enough for me to say "bye- bye" to the new NAD C340 I used to have:) [Actually I replaced the NAD with a vintage AU-717, no matter- I have absolutely no regrets). |
| Creek 4330 over the NAD | Brad H Jan 4, 2002 6:04 PM | | If your budget is under $600, I wouldn't get anything except the Creek 4330 or 4330R. I've A/B'ed it against several NAD integrateds and the Creek wins hands down. Superior depth, detail, dynamics. I've seen used ones listed from time to time. |
| Creek 4330 over the NAD | RGA Jan 4, 2002 8:25 PM | | I have a question...is the Creek 4330 $600.00 Used? if it is then you are not comparing apples to apples. I too would take the Creek in a minute over NAD...but for $500.00 I recently saw the Arcam Delta 290 Integrated amp AND the Arcam Delta 290P Power amp. This setup sounds phenomenal...and is basically the same as the New Alpha 10 and 10P set-up with a few less watts. So now we're basically talking Arcam's best seperates against a very good integrated in the Creek...indeed the 290 Integrated alone I would take(and did) over the Creek.
You do bring up a good point...the used market is a great option to explore...but if you go back 5 years instead of 1 or 2 you'll find some great products - The Delta 290 was a Stereophile Class B and 5 star What Hi-fi Winner as well as integrated budget componant of the year. For around $350.00 on the used market it is easily better than anything NAD or Rotel or Cambridge Audio produces...and as good as most other integrateds in the 1k range...including the Alpha 10.
Having said all that...I'd still go with ASL or Jolida. |
