anthem mca-50 vs outlaw 775zambonikane

I am going to buy an amp in the near future and am considering the anthem mca-50, but ran across the outlaw the other day. The plan is to use my yamaha reciever (rx-v792) for a preamp for a little while. I eventually want to get an anthem avm-20, but 3k+ is a bit steep. I am happy with what i have now, but i have recently purchased paradigm studio 100 v2s and i feel that my reciever is not doing them justice (thus the desire to get a separate amp). The mca-50 and the outlaw are priced about the same, the mca-50 has an extra 25wpc, but the outlaw has an extra two channels. I will eventually get a new pre-amp (the outlaw looks nice for $900, that might tide me over until i get the anthem avm-20) because my yammaha only does dolby digital (no dts, 5ch stereo...). so, now my delema...wait until i can afford the avm-20, or get the mca-50 with my yamaha (then the outlaw 950, then the avm-20), get the outlaw 770 with a 950 for about $2500, get the outlaw 770 and use it with my yamaha then wait until the avm-20 comes within reach. i guess what i want to know is what will give me the best bang for the buck with out being a "band aid" I really have no urgent need for 7 channel sound, but it would be a nice option for the future. how does the sound of the outlaw compare with the anthem (both pre amp and amp) sorry for the long rambling post, but any comments or questions would be appreciated. thanks

zambo,

I recently added the MCA 20 to power my Studio 40s. I was in the same boat as you, having a Yammie receiver (496) driving the mains.

Looking into the Anthem might not be a mistake. Anthem, a division of Sonic Frontiers, is owned by Paradigm. The Studio series is used when testing SFI and Anthem amps, and SFI amps are used when testing the Studio series (this is what a rep told me).

If you get a chance to audition the amp in your home, you'll quickly notice what the product designers had in mind when it came to sonic reproduction. They are a great match. If you listen to music, I am confident that you will like the partnership of an Anthem driving a Paradigm (Studio 100, for that matter)!

If you have any more questions, email me, or post again.

I also have an MCA-20 feeding my 100's and am happy with it. Still have to improve upon my Surround Receiver I'm still using as a preamp.
