under $1000 amplifier any recommedations?profrancis

I am using 2 parasound HCA1000A as monoblocks on my paradigm studio 100, and a nakamichi AV10 receiver for preamp. I am thinking of upgrading my amp. Any suggestions?

Let me get this straight, you've got 2 parasound amps and you want to upgrade them with an under $1000 amp?? That makes no sense at all. That amp puts out 400 watts continuous in mono at less than .03% THD. For around $1000 I think you already have the best possible setup. If you were going to upgrade anything I'd get new speakers. Not that the Paradigms are that bad.

With this budget, not the amp. You can play around with monoblock or bi-amp to see which one sounds better. You can use the budget to upgrade the source, preamp or cables.

Get a powerful subwoofer and highpass the paradigms.
The Studio100 reaches its excursion limits at about 150watts at 50hz IIRC, so using larger amps could potentially just bottom out the woofers.

Velodyne HGS, sunfire or Servo-15 should match up nicely.
