|   Help selecting Amp/Preamp or Receiver for B&W 604S3's | traut
Aug 22, 2002 10:55 AM | | I've got B&W 604S3's as my mains (planning on buying a B&W 600 series CC in the near future), and I'm looking to upgrade my Technics DD/DTS receiver. I want a good all around model or combination, that delivers both for music and home theater.
One of the local Hi-Fi stores (Hillcrest HiFi in Dallas) is having a "Private Sale" this weekend, but they can't sell B&W any more, b/c they were bought out by Tweeter. So, if I get something, I'll be flying blind, or more precisely, deaf, that's why I've come here for advice.
As far as manufacturers go, they carry Yamaha, Marantz, Rotel, Pioneer Elite, and Krell (in my dreams). I'm not looking to take out a second mortgage, so let's keep it in the one to two thousand dollar price range.

From the brands you mention it's pretty tough to go wrong, even though I always shy away from a Pioneer. Yamaha, Marantz, both make some great products but Rotel is a notch above, and Krell is a couple more notches above. |
