| Denon 5800 Vs Sunfire Grand Theatre | Spanky^ Aug 23, 2002 9:48 PM | | Hi, if price was not a concern, which one of these two bad boys would be a better choice...5800 or Grand Theatre II with a 5 channel Sunfire Power Amp |

However if your paying that kind of money on a receiver, try marantz or integra receivers. for less than a $1000 on online auction try the Nakamichi AV10 very musical receiver and really good with home theather as well. Audition this receiver. You can find them for around 500-700 used on ebay. They are worth every penny. |

Assuming the Grand Theater's processor is the same(and it may be better)than the Denon...I would suspect the Sunfire Power amp is better than the amp section in the Denon.
Indeed, the Arcam Alpha 10 integrated mated with two 10p power amps and a 1k CDN processor(Of a company I've never heard) made meat out of the Denon 5700. The Catch...you don't get a tuner with the Arcam gear and you only get 6 channels not 7.
Denon makes a version of the 5800 that may be better- I forget the model but it does not have the tunner section. You likely save money and a few owners say it is very good. Not sure it's available in North America though...they pawn the crap off to us. |
