| Yamaha vs Denon.........A/V Receiver. | dvjorge Sep 8, 2002 5:20 PM | | Hello every body,
Between Yamaha and Denon, same price, same category.
What do you prefer?.Some people say that Yamaha is one of the best a/v receiver in this moment better than Onkyo,Harman Kardon,Denon,Marantz, etc. Is this real?
Thanks,
Jorge. |

It's mostly useless to argue who makes the best receivers. If you have a certain budget in mind, then we can argue about which particular model is best.

| Receivers = Expensive Paperweights | RGA Sep 8, 2002 7:49 PM | | Why would you want to waste your time? For $800.00 you could get a good integrated...for $800.00 you could get a used YBA Integre. |
| Denon... | snickelfritz Sep 9, 2002 1:14 AM | | The Denon is generally considered to be the more "musical sounding" of the two and probably has a better power supply and amplifier section, but the Yamaha probably has better DSP circuitry.
I'd get the Denon. |
| but | RGA Sep 9, 2002 5:31 PM | | The point of buying a receiver is for H/T. If the Yamaha has the best DSP processor then it is the best one to buy.
If Denon receivers are considered musical then it's a sad state of affairs in the audio world.
Receivers are feature boxes that should be used if at all for H/T. Yamaha has a solid build and a good reputation. I remember five or so years ago that they had the best processors and surround sound was quite good. Denon was a little less present in the upper frequency but they were also lifeless sounding.
If Yamaha STILL makes the best processors I'd take one of them. (only fo HT). |

| re: Yamaha vs Denon.........A/V Receiver. | dvjorge Sep 10, 2002 8:53 AM | | Yes people I agree with you.I had Denon and now I have Yamaha. In fact I like the sound of Yamaha over the Denon and the DSP is the best sistem to home cinema.Olso I had the oportunity to compare Denon vs Onkyo and Harman Kardon receivers around $1000. Finally I went with Yamaha.I only listened to it one time and found it the best of the all.All receiver were tasted with B&W spekers.
Thanks,
Jorge. |
