| re: First system | topspeed Oct 9, 2003 11:26 AM | | Mission builds nice speakers (I've enjoyed my 780 Argonauts for 15 years now) and Yamaha is very reliable stuff. A lot of how good your set-up is will depend on what you are trying to achieve. What do you listen to? How big is your room? What's your budget? All of these come into play. That said, I doubt you would be disappointed w/ your set-up.
Definitely take the time to run them together and see how they play with each other. Remember, your opinion is the only one that matters.
Good luck and buy what moves you. |

My room is 18 sq.m. ceiling - 3.5 m.
Very like Fish (from Marillion), jazz, blues, Led Zepellin, Petruchiani, some classic music, ....
Budget is ~ 1500 - 1800$.
My frends talk me about Marantz 6000+ PM7200+Tannoy, I'm hear it, but Yamaha more prefferable - have more clear voice (more upright)like for me.
May be You reccomend something else ? ...
Excuse me for mistake in post, my language is Russian.
Thanx in advance. |

Tannoy's are also very nice and compare well to the Missions. If you go for the "british" sound, B&W's 602s3 or discontinued CDMNT line (you can work great deals on these if you try) or Wharfedale Diamonds are very competent. Like a little warmer sound? NHT's are solid and offer great bank for the buck.
Other integrateds you might look into are NAD, Cambridge Audio, and maybe Creek.
In the end, they're all good. Honestly, most would probably be very happy with the system you originally touted. Take a listen and believe your ears.
Good luck. |

2 days I'm try "Take a listen and believe your ears" and listen (with friends) :
Marantz CD6000+PM8000+Tannoy(Dali, Mission 783,782, Jamo)
Rotel 02 + Tannoy(Dali, Mission 783,782, Jamo)
....
Some NAD
Yamaha 596 + Tannoy(Dali, Mission 783,782, Jamo)
... and settle on Yamaha596+Mission 782.
May be all Tastes differ (and my taste is not good :)
