Nov 3, 2003 2:28 AM | | I have been given a rotel ra 980bx to asses at home..as much as i am a die hard rotel fan.... i hate it.. i have been running it with tannoy saturn s 10 speakers and a denon(the model now escapes me) cd player. the top end is hard... and tends to take your head off a bit./.. however these very same speakers coupled with my rotel rsp 1066 processor and the rb 1080 pwr amp ( which i use for the fronts in my theatre) with the same cd player sounds awesome. in fact you cant tell where the hell the speakers are in the room even if you try... the sound is just there..- even in stereo is seems to surround you and you almost find youorself looking over your shoulder.... but this ra980bx is cold, hard, and where did the soundstage go????????? i seem to be also having a bit of difficulty finding any reviews on this amp at all... at least in english..... hmm... i should have payed attention in chinese class at school... has anyone had any experience with this particular model... i am going to put the dummy loads on it and run it loaded up for a week day and night... hopefully its just not burnt in.. i recieved it as a trade in unit... second hand ... however it looks brand new.... not the slightest bit of any mark on any control or anything... not even any wear marks... so maybee it was bought... and never used??... who knows... if anyone has had any experience with this model... please let me know what you found..
