Cables and Interconnects for HT Upgradedshreves
Apr 23, 2001 6:08 PM
I am upgrading my HT equipment to a Bryston 9B Amp and SP1 Pre/Pro and am pretty confused about the cables and interconnects. I currently am using some upgraded cables from Radio Shack and wonder if I should invest in some new cables. My current equipment is a Sony 333ES CD, S500D DVD, and SAT A4 DTV box. I have seen interconnects from Bryston for $120, to LAT's for $80, to the free ones that come with my components. If I upgrade everything, it could cost me roughly $1500 which seems pretty steep (especially considering the post about using wire hangers!). Would I be better off upgrading some, and not others? Any advice??

Do you want them to match? Is it a money or sensory issue? I would never use a coathanger if I had wire available. I can't tell you technicaly why, but I'm sure someone will probably explain it. I do know it has to do with passing a signal and requires a connection. You can't spend too much on cable, unless you've got the money.

The you are a prime target for all the hype, myth and bs to sell you more.
Your Radio Shack cables are fine. If you need more, go back and get more from them. With the rest, buy more music or movies.
