Which Tara Labs interconnect & cables for a bright system?Phill

My setup:

NAD C-370 integrated amp
Rotel RCD-950 CD player
and locally made JM-160 Spingwood speakers: 160 Watt 40 litre Bass reflex floorstanders 800mm tall by 245mm W by 295mm D using VIFA speaker parts
Monster interlink 200
Monster original speaker cables, single run

At the moment the sound is a bit too sharp for my liking, the treble can be ear piercing at higher volumes, I need cables to smooth out the mids and highs,
what do people on this forum recommend?
I want to bi-wire as well.

Why Tara Labs, because they're easier to obtain and better value here in Australia than the Brit stuff.

I mainly listen to altenative metal and hard rock.

Thanks in advance for any replys.

I really think you should be looking at the loudspeakers for the problem.

Doesn't the NAD have tone controls? Try backing off the treble a bit.

this is definitely a speaker and room acoustics issue....not at all related to your cables. Since the problem is at high volume levels I would start with the room.

I'd probably complain about the piercing sound too.

Cables are not tone controls and shouldn't be used as such.

Use the tone controls on your equipment.

Phil-

Seeing how no component can not affect (color) a system by not imposing its own unique signature - however discrete - ALL components, including cables are tone controls. It is up to the listener to determine the degree of the coloration they impose and if they find it pleasureable. All the Tara cables are on the warmish side, I've used the master gen II and Decade with very good results. They are also a very refined cable boarding more on the delicate than muscular. That being said, I would heed the advise given and look into your core components. NAD stuff is bright. The MOnster stuff is pretty lame but not bright, more like dull. Don't look to fine-tuning to solve problems that may be sourced elsewhere, as this will not address your needs and only adds to the misunderstanding for the proper use of tweaks, which cabling is considered. FWIW, I believe Tara Labs makes great cables, having used their fine Master gen II speaker cables for three years.

How so. Please explain.

>>>NAD stuff is bright. <<<<

How so, please explain. Do you have the frequency specs to support you on this? Oh, yes, it would be measurable.
