Nov 28, 2001 9:16 AM | | I noticed Jim (Resident Loser) stopped in after a long absense and posted one of his customery observations yesterday, and now it is gone! What gives? Certainly there was nothing within his post (if not subsequent thread) that justified that.

Nov 28, 2001 7:31 PM | | You knew I sold my VAC triode amp didn't you? It's a long story, but it's all good, sold it to a buddie in Chicago to bi-amp his VAC. As much as I bragged on it and really miss her, I'm gettting what I think is something EVEN BETTER! And if not, at the very least something new and different than anything I've encountered. So a learning experience AT WORST! Lets hope not a painfull one! I'm excited about having Moth Audio build a custom directly-heated-triode amp for me. Not to "my specs" but with upgraded parts of my choosing (coupling caps, resistors and of course... that damn pesky solid core pure .999999 silver wire for the point-to-point.) It should be b!tchin'. The big question remains what the 2-7wpc amp will do for my 93db Sonatinas. Some guys think I'm nuts, others swear their Silverlines fly with the 'lil SET amps. So after mulling it over for one year, and compiling a notebook full of Emails from end-users & manufacturers I decided to take the plunge and make a clean break from my VAC. Hell, I decided that if the Sonatinas spend more time bickering than getting along I'll be dragging the amp around shoppin' Horns! It should be here in a couple of week, then my local buddies are coming over and we're tubin' it with the vintage tubes I've collected over the last year and firin' it up and seein' whats WHAT! Testimonials are one thing, reality is another! I'll be postin' whats up, good, bad or that slippery slope between.
