| re: Component Video Cables. Any better than others? nt | Eyespy Nov 24, 2001 10:42 AM | | Was is it you are asking? Your question is a little vague. |
| re: Component Video Cables. Any better than others? nt | Neospyder Nov 24, 2001 3:19 PM | | If you mean, are some brands/models better than others...yes. It may be hard to tell the difference between a component video cable from target and one from Radio shack. But one from bettercables or monster compared to radio shack, wal-mart, target....yes theres a bigger difference. Some people say, cables are cables, but if that were so....companies like MIT, Bettercables, IXOS, and Monster probably would never sell their product. If you want better quality, you pay more and get quality. How much money you wanna spend and what you think is a good deal is a personal preference. Remember, companies like mentioned above are sole cable/speaker companies existing to provide quality cables. When someone compares a 20 dollar component cable to a 100 one and says they are the same, they dont know what there talking about. |
| Let me expand the question. | Dust Cover Nov 24, 2001 4:02 PM | | Has anyone ever swapped out Rat Shack Component cables and ever seen an improvement. I mean one where if your friend were switching cables, w/o you knowing which was which, you could tell the difference? How about has anyone ever seen a difference in higher priced cables? Like if someone switched out a Better cables.com for a Tributaries or something along those lines. |
| Let me expand the question. | FLZapped Nov 24, 2001 8:58 PM | | There are reports on both sides of the fence, however, there is no valid evidence that supports like cables sounding different from one another.

| Let me expand the question. | audiojoe Nov 28, 2001 5:17 PM | | Funny,
I thought we were talking about video cables...I didnt know that the Pr, Pb, and Py signals also carried sound....WOW!!! Now i can get rid of those stupid red and white cables taking up space behind my reciever!!!
I know it was just a slip-up, but i am showing how critical some of us can be on this site. Some people need to lighten up. |

| The answer to that question is..... | Norm Strong Nov 24, 2001 9:00 PM | | we really don't know. Many claims have been made; none witnessed to the best of my knowledge. The few times I've tested myself and others, there has been no change. |
| Let me expand the question. | mtrycrafts Nov 25, 2001 2:09 PM | | Reliable sources, using DBT, compared a very long 120V power cable as video cables, compared to real video cables. The answer is not to some likings though:) |
| I just can't.. | Warren Warren Nov 27, 2001 8:19 PM | | I just can't let sleeping dogs lie. Sorry. How can you have a DBT- Double BLIND Test- on a VIDEO cable? Gee, no wonder no one could tell the difference! Ha Ha! I kill me! |
| I just can't.. | Eyespy Nov 27, 2001 9:28 PM | | You have to be joking, right? |
| I just can't.. | Warren Warren Nov 28, 2001 3:33 AM | | Yes, it was a joke! Blind-Video, i.e. how could a blind person see any improvement? Get it? Geez, lighten up! That goes double for Mtry! |
| I just can't.. | Eyespy Nov 28, 2001 7:41 AM | | Just checking. After all, I understand you are persuing a PhD. |

How so? How much? |
| I beg to differ | GCM Nov 28, 2001 8:04 AM | | Some of their cables cost hundreds of dollars. There is nothing there that competes with the 12' cable I use that cost $19.99. |
| re: Component Video Cables. Any better than others? nt | woodman Nov 25, 2001 6:21 PM | | Dus':
You can pay more, or you can pay much more, or you can pay much, MUCH more for a set of so-called "component video" cables, but none of them will actually perform significantly better than any other! Look better? Sure. Better build quality? You bet. But perform significantly better? No, not by the hair on this ol' fart's chinny-chin-chin.

| re: Component Video Cables. Any better than others? nt | audiojoe Nov 28, 2001 5:22 PM | | what i find funny is that everyone loves the rat shack, but their component video cable costs $40....thats just as expensive as some of the exotic brands many of the people talk about on here....I should know i sell them..
God I love cable mark up!!! Pays me a ton! |
| re: Component Video Cables. Any better than others? nt | Eyespy Nov 28, 2001 5:55 PM | | My preference is for good quality RG-6, which I typically optain for about $0.12/foot, plus the correct adaptors and terminations, as stated in the past and at my HT website. |
