Davenport on Proper CablingJameson Davenport Briggs VII

I've read a lot of posts on this board about differences between cables.

Saying " All cables are about the same" Is like saying "Bill Clinton was only a little better than average in the White House."

When President Clinton came to office, we had scandals, wars, deficits and domestic problems. He fixed them. Then he left and now were are back to scandals, wars, deficits, domestic problems and now you can add terrorism to the mix.

If you are experiencing sound problems, check the brands and types of cables. All cables do NOT sound the same and many will not work with certain components.

When you have selected the right cables, check with the manufacturer (not the vendor) as to how they recommend aging them and breaking them in before use. You can seriously and permanently damage them if this is not done right the first time. Also check for cablic interaction- this is the interaction between various different brands of cables within the same system.

Then you must clean and maintain them with appropriate UHE fluids (i.e. ProGold). Analogue components are the most sensitive to improper cabling as they are the highest end of any system.

Also, don't forget the cables (wires) that connect your UHE cartridge to the headshell. Clean them frequently. And use a demagnetizer such as "The Gryphon Black Exorcist" regularly.

"...When President Clinton came to office, we had scandals, wars, deficits and domestic problems. He fixed them. Then he left and now were are back to scandals, wars, deficits, domestic problems and now you can add terrorism to the mix..." is indicative of your "expertise" on things in general(and audio in particular), I would strongly suggest you devote your full attention to the collection and boiling-down of sap, as you seem well suited to this endeavor.

You might want to consider a trip to the Kittery Trading Post or L.L. Bean in Freeport...I understand they have a wide array of trolling gear available...

Most of my cables were originally made by Belden. When I phoned their engineers and asked for their aging recommendations they said wait until you're at least 15 years old before buying their cables. Then, when I asked them about breaking them in, they laughed at me and hung up. That really hurt my feelings.

What do I do now? Should I ask the secretary instead? She seemed really nice.

Hey Mike.

Originally made by Belden? So does that mean they were actually OEMed and put together by someone else? Obviously you just called the wrong engineers. Call that other company. Although it's too late now, you've probably already "damaged" them irreparably by using them in a stereo system.

If you notice every time this fraud comes back he signs his name differently. I also remember him being the III in the beginning. Every troll has a different #. Some say Northern ME which was the very first post.

Just ignore him like I do Mtry.

Still waiting.

It shouldn't be long now for the amp, a week or so, huh Brian?

I wash, wax and change the oil in all my cables regularly. My cartridge is connected to the UHF output of my TV, just like you recommend. I have taken my cables to an exorcist as you suggest. Yet, I'm still not getting the soundstage and focus out of my Wavetable Radio that I think I should. Do you think Bill Clinton's cables will help me? Do you think Monica can help my "cable"?

No, but I bet he knows all the stain removing tricks now.

You could at least try to be serious with the guy. He's going out of his way to help. Please see my post for an example of a proper reply.

Putting all seriousness aside for a second, how does this product sound?

My reply WAS serious! At this point, my radio sounds flabby in the bass, bloated in the mids, and non-existent above 7000Hz. Friends tell me that's how it's supposed to sound, but I think with the right cables, it can sound like a pair of Martin Logan Monoliths.

...the average American. Of course, the average American likes to eat at McDonalds, watches Jerry Springer, and thinks WWF wrestling is real. Maybe I SHOULD move to Canada. It might be cold there, but they have never had a leader like Slick Willie. What I really want to know is, why is he still getting all this free publicity. He's gone, and all you ignorant trailer trash democrats need to get over it!
Ummm, Warren...MonstrousMike

You have two common misconceptions about Canada.

The first one is fairly benign. It's not as cold where I live as it is in Minnesota (unless you consider Minnesota to almost be Canada). There were actually two Americans who were travelling through my hometown (Sudbury, Ontario) in July many years ago who had skiis on the roof of their car. They asked how far north they had to go to find the snow (it was a nice 85F day). I replied "Alaska or you could wait here until December".

The second is more more serious. Have you had a good look at our latest "leader"? You know, the one that was on vaction from September 10, 2001 to the present? The only thing he knows how to run is a political party.

Is what Monica provided Bill with......

Does that mean she served on the Presidential Staff?

Was Clinton trying to get bush in the Oval Office?

What was on the blue dress? Presidue?

Is Maine a state yet?

Well, we're sure the Presidential staff stood erect when Monica entered the room. Clinton should have listened to J. Jackson when he said, "Stay out of the bushes!" Contrary to popular belief, it was not Presidue on her dress. When Monica asked her hard-of-hearing drycleaner if he could remove the spot, he leaned closer and asked, "Come again?" Monica replied, "No, mustard". And only Northern Maine is a state. Haven't you read Mr. Davenport's previous founts of wisdom?
