Could anyone recommend any good RCA audio cable, prefer under $50? I had Phoenix Cable (Gold), is it a good sounding cable?

Phoenix Gold should be fine. If you are into DIY, there are plenty of recipies for interconnects on the net that, IMO, sound really nice and would cost less than your budget.

Technically, a cable has no sound, nor does anything else in your system apart from your speakers. What a cable can do, however, is filter some of the signal that gets to your speakers. What you want is a good NEUTRAL cable, rather than a good SOUNDING cable. Some relatively inexpensive brands that I like are Outlaw (www.outlaw.com), IXOS (www.accessories4less.com), and AR (Acoustic Research- available at many audio retailers), and they all cost less than $50. I'm not familiar with the Phoenix gold, but as long as you can return them if you're not happy with them, you should be fine. Enjoy!

As was mentioned above, cables don't have a sound. Just enjoy what you have and worry about the recordings.
