...that a good quality cable doesn't have to cost a lot. I would not call this the BEST cable by any means, but certainly a good cable, far superior to the more expensive RadioShack promoted by Naysayers. No, I haven't used these in my system, but it seems like a good deal for someone wanting to get a decent cable at a good price. If anyone has any experience with these, I'd like to hear about it.

Yes, they look very nice. I am not sure how it compares to Radio SHack price wise, haven't priced one lately, or on sale:)
RS is recommended as RS is convenient to find. Certainly not the cheapest.

I just got an ART DI/O to use as an outboard DAC. If you poke around, you'll learn that it is very 'cable sensitive' when it comes to syncing with the transport's clock.

New to outboard DACs - and digital cables, I got one from RS to get me up and going. Naturally, it was dismal. I had to reboot the ART every time a disc ended, or I played with the sample rate - It was a new toy! I HAD to!

I tossed together a cable from leftovers from JR's IC's and it syncs flawlessly. I do not consider my tossed together cable to be good so much as I see it as estabishing the actual value of the Rat Shacker, which essentially, does not work very well.

My experience with Rat Shack has generally not been positive. Quality is variable and prices are higher than they should be for the stuff they sell. Ocassionally there's a deal during one of their 1/2 off or closeout sales, but on the whole I try to avoid the Shack.

Anymore all they are good for is cell phones. And again, you will do much better elsewhere

18 ga. rather large for interconnect wires, and who knows what the insulation is, it certainly doesn't look foamed, and it appears to be quite thin, so the two wires will be in closer proximity.

On the plus side, I do note fillers to keep the sheld out of the twisted pair crease, and if the claims are for real, a telescopic outer braided shield, and you shouldn't have near the problems with bad grounds as with the RS cables!

However, for not a lot more, one could build their own high performance cables.
