Bi-wire advice for a real situation soughtentrope

Or actually unbi-wire advice....

I have a my speakers shotgun bi-wired with Kimber 8VS (15' run) the amp end soldered into a single spade. I am switching to a single wire speaker and would like to continue to use these cables.

As I see it my options are:

1-connect all four spades on the speaker side to the single speaker posts leaving the cables intact as a shotgun bi-wire. I think this effectively would double the gauge of the wire.

2-connect only one set of spades on the speaker side and cover the other spades with heat shrink to prevent shorts leaving them hanging. Would this double the guage? Reduce signal transfer?

3-clip one side of the bi-wire off at the amp spade

4-Unsolder both wires and the amp end and reattach a single wire to the amp spade

I am unsure of the problems/results created by the first two scenarios and seek the knowledge of this board for direction in what would be best in my frugal recycling of cable.

Speakers will be here Monday-Von Schweikerts!

Thanks and Happy 4th of July

I see two choices for you.

The easy one is your option #1. There's nothing wrong with this choice.

Assuming the individual gauge of these wires is at least 16AWG, option #4 would sound the same as option #1, IMHO. And with a little elbow grease, you will end up with an extra set of speaker wires for other uses.

I would choose option 1. This way you can reuse the cable if you ever switch to another bi-wire speakers.
JUst make sure you don't have cross connection someplace :(
Thanks for the input...entrope

Speakers arrived Friday and sound magnificent. Went with option #1 and all is well.
