| Practical jokes and perceptions | sofsoldier Jul 12, 2002 1:00 PM | | Some times when I am at work, I like to pick one person to show others how suggestion call alter his or her perception, even reality.
Early in the morning, I will go to this person and say: "How are you doing? Are you OK, you look kinda flush." I continue that for a good part of the day, even feeling the forehead and commenting how "warm" they are. Suddenly, by the end of the day, they do not feel so good - even though they actually looked just fine with no complaints.
In the car, its fun to 'pretend' to hear noises and ask the passenger "do you hear that?" After a while, they do.
Go to an audio store, and let a sales person try to convince you that cable A sounds better than cable B, and that's all she wrote! You just bought expensive cables.
