Svideo over Category 5epapo1012

I have just completed an install for a 42" Panasonic Plasma TV. Me and a friend who is an electrician by trade decided to place all the A/V equipment inside a utility closet adjacent to the living room where the TV would be. To achieve a smooth look we mounted the TV on a wall bracket and ran category 5e cabling through the walls and into the attic to supply connections for the two SVideo inputs we would be connecting the DSS and DVD to. We used leviton Svideo 110 punch down ends on both sides of the cat 5. Everything in the install came out great except the fact that we now have slight lines running through the picture. They were not present when we had a direct connection from the tv to the dvd. I began reading about something called "Baluns" which convert the signal to the correct resistance for that particular type of wire. The thing is I was to understand that cat 5 has a resistance of 100ohms per 1000 ft. and that an Svideo cable has a resistance of 75ohms. If I was making a run as short as mine (approx. 25 ft. end to end) then I don't see how there could be a huge interference from a slight change in resistance. The problem with all the "Baluns" I saw if they do become necessary, is that they all have an RJ45 input and Svideo output. Problem with that is I already have Svideo ends on both cables I ran, on both sides of the install. I would not feel inclined to convert all those connections to RJ45 and have to purchase 4 Baluns for the setup. Any advice or Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think you are in deep doodoo.
You need a video cable for Svideo. You need a 75 ohm characteristic impedance video cable. You will have a hard time matching the cat5 cable. Not sure what its impednace is which doesn't vary by distance. You are thinking od DC resistance, different issue.

Rotsa Ruck. You need 75 ohm IMPEDANCE coaxial cable for S-Video....
