Anyone Try Cobalt Cables?slbenz
Oct 11, 2003 1:08 PM
Hi,

Since upgrading to a pair of ML Scenarios from a pair of B&W CDM7SEs, I was looking to replace the current cables from the B&Ws which are MIT Terminator 4 bi-wired. Looks strange for me to connect two sets of connectors when the Scenarios only need one set unlike the B&Ws. Judging from the electrical tests done on the Cobalts, they seem to outperform cables 10X more expensive. Just wanting to find out others experiences with these cables. At least they have a 90 day return guarantee. Thanks in advance for your experiences with these cables.

In what regard? How?

Then cut two terminals off and wrap the cable where you cut it so you or others will not see. You already have the cables, put it to good use.

b At least they have a 90 day return guarantee.

Any restocking fees?

Mtrycrafts,

In regards to your first question, they compared capacitance, inductance and resistance through the tested speaker cables. Question two, thanks for the suggestion but it is not an option. I plan to sell the MIT cables that I am currently using. Question three, there are no restocking fees. Now, back to my question, do you have any experience using Cobalt Cables? If you do, I would like to know your thoughts on their use with my system. Thanks.

OK, how did they stack up by the numbers?

b do you have any experience using Cobalt Cables?

There is no evidence that it will perform sonically that you or anyonbe can hear any differently than comparable cables do.

Tr,

I agree with you. This board isn't very helpful. No answers but criticism on manufacturers other than Home Depot. I guess there are quite a few Home Depot employees and shareholders on this board. Thanks for the other board link.

Unfortunate that you cannot distinguis between factual information and audio mythology, voodoo and BS. If that is what you were looking for, you should have so stated.

This board is most helpful to those who seek real answers, to reality issues, not mythological ones.

b I guess there are quite a few Home Depot employees and shareholders on this board.

Yep, it is only your guess, a very poor one at that.

Good luck finding reality, if you are interested in it, at AA.

After seeing the responses to my question, it is evident that you have not heard the Cobalt Cables or probably any other cable but Home Depot 12 gauge but instead try to quote articles that I have seen are already dated. There are just as many articles that came out recently that add to the confusion on speaker cables. True, there aren't any double blind studies with an N value of any magnitude but I think people do agree that different cable materials can produce a different sound. Just like receivers and amps produce a different sound even though the electronics are basically the same. At least from the other forums, I agree to use a critical ear to judge if there is really a difference in sound with different cables. That is the ultimate test, using your own hearing vs. quoting someone else everytime. Each person hears differently and has different likes and dislikes in the quality of sound.

b here they dont believe

Ah, so this is an issue of a beliefe system? Must be supernatural if science has no part in it.

b going to audioasylum.com where youre question wil be taken seriously.

Ah, the blind leading the blind there. Good place for the cult mentality. An appropriate name too, Asylum.
