QED Silver / Anniversary ?scrooge
Nov 14, 2003 5:23 PM
Dear HT BUFF: Not sure what you mean. A "silver" anniversary implies a celebration of 25 years. A "gold" anniversary marks a fifty year one etc. Are the folks at QED raising their glasses to a quarter century of business and marking it with a special cable? If not, is the cable supposed to be made of silver? And by the way, don't take any notice of MtryCraft. He's always ruining the subjectivist's day with his continual outbursts of common sense.

Gee, that's funny. I've never seen him ruin a single day of any subjectivist, and I've been hanging around here quite a while. Seems like many subjectivists are happy and many objectivists are angry. I sometimes wonder who really has a better grip on life.

Anger and the desire to provoke seem to be motives for a large proportion of the posts on the Cable Forum. Arguements over something as insignificant as cables may be seen as a safe outlet for those feelings. The debating probably is a good way to keep the mind stimulated, and maybe even learn a little, although I doubt that positions of regulars here change much.

Unlike the naysayers, I don't see a problem in the astronomical prices that some audiophiles are willing to pay for cables. I would be surprised if their children are going hungry. And I don't loose sleep over whether naysayers think I am a sucker for spending a total of $200 for my cables rather than $20. I am concerned, however, about the amount of time I spend on this forum. It's become addictive. I need to come up with a more productive way to spend my spare time.
I tried QED Silver Anniversary and I thought they sucked!skeptic

Of course anybody can say anything they want and if you want to believe it, that's your business. However, HT Buff would have had much more credibility in his original posting if he had said what he liked about them. Better bass? Better treble? Better midrange? clearer sound? How should I know what to expect. Of course, from his moniker, I assume HT listens predominantly to home thearter (after all isn't that what HT stands for.) Home theater systems are hardly known for high accuracy of music reproduction. So if for example, the resistance of these wires is high and they reduce speaker damping so that it would create a resonant peak with HIS speakers, he might consider that an improvement whereas I would consider that a deterioration in performance.

(I didn't really use them---what did you guys think, I was going soft in the head or something?)
