| Remember the Titans Feel Good Family Film | Tahitijack Apr 8, 2001 11:12 AM | | I'm not a fan of the Disney studio, but a friend recommended this and since I like Denzel Washington I had to take a look. This is a terrific family flick. It can be watched and enjoyed on several levels. This could be a starting point for a family talk about race relations, team work, or one of several other themes running through the film. The movie can also be enjoyed as just a feel good movie about life its ownself. Appropriate for all age groups, no nude sceans or excessive foul language, the movie deals with the first integrated high school in Alexandria, VA and a town that is struggling to resolve years of segregation and seldom sugar coats the split between black and white America. The high school football team becomes the catalyst to brake down some barriers, but as we learn at the end of the film some folks just don't get it. How far have we come in 30 years? Not far, my friend, not nearly far enough. Perhaps this movie will help those that have not yet joined the rest of us to come in from the darkness. Sound Quality: DTS 5.1 was outstanding. Visual Quality: Very good, there were no special effects and none were needed. RENT IT |

| Right On... | Tweeter Apr 8, 2001 9:32 PM | | Just concurring with your points. I'd like to see more films like this in the future. |
| This was the Rudy of 2000. | Max Apr 9, 2001 6:44 AM | | This movie was great. I was glad to hear that some schools brought there whole teams to see this movie. I also liked that it had interviews with the real coaches and players. The movie has 5.1 and DTS on the same disc, but there is a widscreen and standard version, so watch out. |
| Quality movie | Bryan Apr 9, 2001 12:58 PM | | That I was happy to add to my growing DVD collection. I loved it. The reviews plus what I heard about it all were true! Too bad they do not make more of those type of movies. |
| A rental? No way Tahitijack! You gotta buy this one! | snowman Apr 9, 2001 1:49 PM | | Its a keeper |
| More films like this might make up for the OJ Trial (I doubt it) | Kelly W Apr 11, 2001 1:20 PM | | I must admit that my upper middleclass white boy media trained perspective in race relations was vastly improved when I watched this wonderful film. A great reminder of where we should be by now. But, events like the "OJ" trial have done great (irreparable?)damage to forward progress in this area. Thanks Johnny Cochran. |
