Coolest scene (and not for special effects)Umrswimr

I stumbled upon Top Secret last week and I forgot how cool the backwards "underground resistance shop" scene was. The first time I saw it, I could tell there was something not quite right... Then the dog ran backwards and they flew UP the pole... That had to take HOURS of work to coordinate.
Let's Get Two Set's of Feedback Coolest Scene and Favorite SceneAdam

My all time favorite scenes in movies are:

Usual Suspect: The Police Line Up
Godfather II: The speach about keep your friends close and you enemies closer.
Scent of A Woman: The entire end scene speach by Pacino.

Coolest Scenes:

Jackal: When Bruce blows the guys arm off
Se7en: The scene with the guy who was tortured to death, you know the one, He coughs and scares the crap out of everyone.
Matrix: I know every one loves this one the whole shoot up scene in the lobby.

My favorite and coolest: taking the beach in Apocalypse Now (really the whole stretch when Robert Duvall is in the movie)
Every scene bathed in "coolness"..puffum

and how about the opening scene where Martin Scheen is wasted and awaiting his orders. What makes this so cool is the fact that he REALLY WAS that f**d up during that take...
Consider these....puffum

Sgt Barnes' (Tom Berenger in Platoon) "experts on killing" speech in the head camp. The interrogation/"torture" of Mark Wahlburg in Three Kings - they claim they were really shocking him in these scenes, although we're sure (?)not to the extent it seemed...
There are so many . . .Courtroom Jester

but I'll never forget being in a packed theater for "Return of the Jedi." When Darth Vader picks up the Emperor and hurls him down the shaft, the theater literally erupted. Almost to a person, people jumped out of their seats, pumping their fists and cheering.

Some personal favorites (don't know what these say about my taste!) ;-)

"The Crow"--when he takes out a whole room full of henchmen. It's like the lobby scene in The Matrix, but I like it better.

"Dances with Wolves"--at the end, when Wind His Hair (correct name?) stands on the cliff and shouts Dances with Wolves' name as he and Stands with Fist leave the tribe's camp.

"The Last of the Mohicans"--the whole ending

These are just off the top of my head.
There are so many . . .bking

How about the Coffee scene in Heat? How about every scene in Heat?

My favorite scene recently, is the exchange by Gilbert and Sullivan on the couch in Topsy, Turvy.

Visually Coolest Scene:

The final play of the football game in "The Longest Yard" when Burt Reynolds tries to run around the right end of the line, but has to turn back. Just as he is coming back, he and his blocker are running in perfect step with each other. A beautiful piece of choreography.

Coolest Monologue:

In the movie "Bite the Bullet", Gene Hackman relates the story San Juan Hill and of the Cuban woman he fell in love with while in Cuba with Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. She died as a human shield for the Spanish occupiers of her country, imploring her countrymen to attack. At the end Gene Hackman says, "I wasn't worth her spit."
My Pick Would BeOver50

In the movie Heat, right at the end when Pacino and Di Niro clasp hands and Bob say's I told you I'm never going back. Two classic performers.

I think the two scenes in The Big Lebowski that show Jesus Quintana bowling were freakin' hilarious. John Turturro is in the movie for a combined 6 minutes and it's the some of the coolest shit I've ever seen...

Coolest monologue:

VERY tough to pick just one, but I'll go with what I consider "classic predictability". Or in other words "I knew he'd say something like that".

Movie: Unforgiven
Scene: Just before final shootout when Clint gives his speech in the bar, completely outnumbered.
Line: "Yeah, I'm William Munny. I killed those men. I've killed women and children. I've pretty much killed everything that's walked or crawled at one time or another. And now I'm here to kill you little Bill". Just too damn cool.

Coolest scene:

Again, VERY tough to pick just one, but I'll try.

Movie: The Killer (John Woo)
Scene: Opening sequence.
Line: No lines at all. Gunplay at it's finest. Ok, so the cheesy wound effects are kind of lame, but the action and choreography more than make up for it. Pure adrenalin.
Abbott and Costello basketball game...Snakebit

where they are on an all-female team, and Cos goes in during the final seconds of a tie game, shoots a half-court shot at the buzzer, the ball hits the back rim and bounces all the way across court and into the opposing teams basket, his team loses and A&C get chased out of the building. Gotta love it.

"Moluram.... prepare to meet Gali!!!"

And of course the legendary dinner scene.
