Apr 13, 2001 8:49 PM | | VCD is no where near the quality of DVD. Your best bet is to buy illeagal DVDs. There is a guy on Ebay, username:benchshooter who is an aoutstanindg resource. I got all 4 for 100.00 shipped. He is in the USA, a key thing by the way. You have to be careful whihc version of the DVDs you get, some are awfule transfers, benchshooter has only the good stuff. This means that the quality is not as good as DVD, since it is a copy it falls between laser disc quality and VHS quality. Still, they all have better sound (5.1) than the VHS tapes that were released here in the states. I noticed that the Episode 1 seems to have sounds coming out from all channels slightly during center channel scenes, but then when there is directional sound it comes from the correct speaker. Adam, does yours do this?
If you really want a good quality transfer try Crouch Tiger. It is of TRUE DVD quality picture and sound, and has English/Chinese spoken language or english subtitles. |
