Almost Famous is almost perfectTahitijack

I a have been waiting weeks for my local video rental shop to have Almost Famous in stock. I can understand why this film was in high demand. The plot, picure and sound quality is excellent. Although I question how Kate Hudson got a supporting actress nomination she was perfect in the role of Penny Lane a '70 Band-aid/groupie. William is a 15 year old stringer for Rolling Stone Magazine, who finds himself assigned to cover the tour of the up-and-comming rock band Stillwater. The film is filled with sex (no nudity and the sex is implyed) drugs (what ever happend to 'ludes?) and rock and roll (a collector's paradise of great music) so parental discression is advised. Baby-boomers will find this movie brings back some memories. You'll like this movie if you liked A Star Is Born or Spinal Tap. Rent if the bucks are tight, buy it if you can afford the price.

Everyone that I've told this movie about has either loved it or enjoyed it thoroughly. My fiance and I, virtually all of my friends, even my parents found this to be one of the best movies in a long time.

i love spinal tap but almost famous sucks. one of the worst films of last year. i realize that there are people out there who love it, like you guys, but c'mon what do you see in it? the characters are idiotic, shallow, stupid, the acting is aweful for the most part. billy crudup was underused as was philip symore hoffman and frances mcdormand. while last year wasn't as good as 99 in terms of good films there were tons better than almost famous out there. to whit: requiem for a dream, crouching tiger, hidden dragon, tigerland, in the mood for love, mifune, timecode, the virgin suicides. and if you haven't heard of any of these it's your loss, unfortunately.
