Apr 24, 2001 1:18 PM | | Ok well the beautiful benefits of working in advertising were recouped this weekend. I saw 4 movies and 1 of which isn't even out yet. Anyhoot thought I'd give you all some insite:
Tailor of Panema: Pierce Brosnan at his best and how we wish he would be for the Bond movies. He was as cool as he was in Thomas Crown Affair but he was more of a hard ass. The story is definitely a good example of what can happen when people tell littel lies that are relayed to the wrong people. I would defintely reccomend it if you enjoyed the Thomas Crown Affai or if you like Brosnan in Bond but wish he had a little more edge.
Driven: Poor man's Day's of Thunder. Cruise did it better. Stalone wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be. Personally if it wasn't for free I think I'f be pissed that I paid to see it. Keep your money in the pocket and just watch Days of Thunder.
Freddy Got Fingered: Well definitely one of the dumbes movies I've seen in a while. No real plot, but I love Tom Green and I kinda have a sore spot for stupid humour: Scary Movie, Hot Shots, etc. Basically if you like Tom Green or just want to be amused for 90 minutes check it out. Tom Green does things so stupid you have no choice but to laugh. I was worried that all the funny seens would have been showed in the trailer, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Pearl Harbor: I know you all have mixed ideas about this one. I won't say too much because I don't want to give too much away, but...Bay and Bruckheimer did a good job, not a great one, but good. The battle seens were just amazing, not SPR quality, but damn good non the less. The music and sound effects were tremendous. The love story sorta kinda not really gets in the way...as Bay said in an interview if you took out the love story in Titanic you'd have no movie. Well the love story portion of the movie is only a sub story that links the 2 main stories together. If you like Bay and Bruckheimer go see it, if you want to be overwhelemd like you were in SPR, don't bother. |
