May 1, 2001 8:30 AM | | For the sound mix, yes; also for a scene late in the film where the two priests converse on the stairs about the nature of evil. I thought the other additions added nothing, and in some cases detracted from the original. For instance, the blowing curtains dropped in at the very start ruined the opening jolt of the blood-red Iraqi sun, and the longer ending dissipated the remaining unease of the original (though I understand that was Blatty's intention; creator's prerogative).
