| Biggest dissappointments from the "Blockbuster" Summer? | Worf101 Aug 8, 2003 8:05 AM | | I've not seen all the tripe that was thrown out there this summer, unoffically known as the "Summer of Sequels" a.k.a. "Steaming Pile of Horse Dung.... Part Deux", but I've seen some of em. Here's what I think really stank.
1. The Hulk - Ang Lee's first misstep. Trying to put Shakespeare in the Comic Book heroes. Some amazing effects but all in all, pretty stupid and dull.
2. T-3 Rise of the Machines - Oy vey, Ahnold better hope he does win the Gov. seat in Cali cause he's really at the end of his rope as far as acting (can you call that acting) goes.
3. The Matrix Reloaded - True Believers can whine all they want about how this was a great movie but nothing could save this incomprehensible mess at the box office. It stank and people voted with their feet. Nuff Said.
4. Bad Boys II - Jeeze Louise does anybody READ these scripts? Will Smith merrily following Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence down the hell hole to cinematic obscurity.
5. Charlies Angels II - Jeeze Louise how can they justify funding this tripe when there's real films that could be made. You could fund every film by students in every film school in America and 99 percent of would be better than this dung. I almostleft after half an hour.
6. Alex and Emmea - Chite... I did leave ths movie after 45 minutes, I've only done that twice in my entire life.
So far this summer's movie fare has essentially sucked. Except for rare jewels like The Whale Rider and perhaps Finding Nemo, Hollywoods had a pretty rough summer and no amount of spin can save it.
Let's all go see Gigli!!!!!

Hulk - i enjoyed it enough, i guess it wasn't a huge dissapointment, but LOVED the editing of the film. Not sure if it will get recognized, but from what i've seen so far, deserves an academy for the editing. phenomenal editing job.
League of crap - more crap. ridiculous crap. just... just plain crap. hoped for just a fun action flick with a great premise, got bubkis.
Matrix Reloaded - i enjoyed it, but thought it hurt from the fact that the fight scenes didn't have the motivation/purpose behind them that the first one did. violence for violence's sake rather than actually having a REAL reason. slight dissapoinment here i guess.
On the other hand: X2, Whale Rider, Sea Biscuit, Winged Migration, 28 Days, Identity, and Finding Nemo were all thumbs up.
peace
