Oct 3, 2003 11:15 AM | | I purchased the two disc Scarface Anniversary Edition last night, and while I didnt watch it in my surround system yet in DTS 5.1, I have to say I am gravely dissapointed. The same horrible scratchy, grainy artifacts are ALL OVER the transfer of this so-called "digitally remastered" version; there are certain parts of this DVD folks --- and I am not exaggerating here --- that look WORSE than my two-cassette VHS version. No kidding. The VHS version actually appears smoother in picture quality; what is Universal thinking? Couldnt they clean this up a bit more? For real, there are parts of the DVD that look TERRIBLE---almost had me wondering if there was snow and interference on the TV set, but it was just grainy transfer artifacts. This "digitally remastered" version sucks.
Haven't heard the audio yet, but have been told by folks who have that the DTS track is equally dissapointing. But didnt expect much from a 1983 remaster. |
