Oct 6, 2003 9:28 AM | | Fun movie. Just a good adventure flick, fun action, fun characters, good looking movie. Nice battle sequences, good action, etc. perfect popcorn movie.
However (and I know there's always a nitpicky "however" from me) there was one thing that bugged me (not that made it bad or anything, more like a inconsistency maybe or something along the lines of "kam, shut the hell up and just enjoy the movie", but for arguments sake...) SPOILERS BELOW.
If Wil's dad was part of the barbarosas' crew, and he sent the coin to his son, then he was also a part of the curse. So when they tied a canon to his leg and threw him overboard, he didn't die, he just sunk to the bottom of the ocean. He should've still been alive the entire time, just either stuck on the bottom of the ocean for however long it was. So when Wil cut his hand and dropped in the last coin, THAT was when his father should have died, right?
Also, when Depp shot the pistol at Barbarosa, it was while he was immortal, only after that did Wil drop in the coin, so barbarosa should have still been alive. OR, if the wound was so recent and that is why he died, why didn't Depp die as well from getting run through with his sword just moments before?
and why was keira knightly so ridiculously hot in that movie? just wasn't even fair.
just some thoughts and ramblings.
good fun flick.

Oct 8, 2003 11:05 AM | | I think there are a few inconsistencies like that in the film but maybe they go away on a second watch, maybe they are actually explained and we just missed it. Maybe they hit the cutting room floor and will be part of the DVD.
Good flick though.
