The Raiders of the Lst Ark DVD release?

hello everyone, I heven't been here for a zillion years!
now that Im here, I have to vent!

<rant> Man, Ive been waiting for this DVD FOREVER!!! Raiders is my favorite movie of all time! So, I bought it the day it came out, left work early, went into my basement checked all of my HTR settings with Avia and my SPL, made some popcorn and got ready to watch. I eagerly ripped the cellophane wrapping off of the box, took out the first disk and inserted it. I checked the audio section to make sure there wasn't some crappy default 2.0 setting, pressed play and sat back. My first impression was boy, the picturis a little grainy. Next was the sound. the diologue seemed to be much lower than the music and effects. The chase scene in the market was weak, and the sound of the gunshots and the explosion from the truck were weak! In addition, almost nothing coming from the rears! This is what I remember about this movie in the theatres is the way Indianna's whip seemed to cross behind you as he snapped it! What...but I waited all this time for this set and had such high hopes!</rant>
It is still my favorite movie, i was just dissapointed in the transfer!

anyone else have the same impression?

It was a little darker and grainier than I'd expected. The soundtrack is over 20 years old..I've heard worse.
This is only for the first one..I'm off work today for the next two.

I rented the 2nd and 3rd movies this week.

The transfers seemed ok to me, as did the audio. The menus sure seemed cheezy though. I was more surprised with how dated the movies feel overall. They were a lot hokeyer than I remember them being.

The first one is miles ahead of the other 2. Thanks largely to Karen Allen. I loved that she could stand toe to toe with Indy. Capshaw in the second was a boring screamer, always needing rescue and the German gal in the 3rd one was obviously the enemy from the first frame you saw her (the German accent in a movie that takes place in 1938 being a dead give away).
