Another strong film. Based on a true story, the WAF is high as it is a culturally enriching film and tells the story of 3 aboriginal girls during the "stolen generations" years in Australia.
Acting, cinematography, story, and surprisingly, sound, are all excellent. Featurette about the casting is good, too.
I was told that this was as good or better than Whale Rider, but have not seen as yet.

BTW, does anybody know where the word "aboriginal" comes from? I asked a friend of mine who had lived in Australia for a few years and she had no idea. Is the word a translation of the native language or just an ugly word the early settlers gave the natives? |
